Space Precinct is a British television series that aired from 1994 to 1995 on Sky One and later on BBC Two in Britain, and in first-run syndication in the US. Many US stations scheduled the show in late night time slots, which resulted in low ratings and ensured cancellation.The series was created by Gerry Anderson and was a mix of science fiction and police procedural that combined elements of many of Anderson's previous series such as Space: 1999, UFO and Thunderbirds, but with an added dash of Law & Order and Dragnet. Gerry Anderson was Executive Producer along with Tom Gutteridge. One of the series' directors was John Glen who had previously helmed various James Bond movies.

On year 2094, Commander James is on mission above Mars' Surface to scanning it to make a complete map of the planet. One of his two robots, D.O.R. (Discovery Optical Relay), makes a lonely journey to explore a distant mountains when it detects a strange movement of stones from the top. After D.O.R. turns off mysteriously, Commander James and the other rover R.E.X. (Relations Experiment Explorer) goes to the place where D.O.R.'s signal gave its last location. After to finding D.O.R. totally destroyed, Commander James actives his video feed to discover what D.O.R. saw just before to be destroyed, but in this moment and unknown for him, R.E.X. detects movement on a close cavern and it enters to investigate.

One of Lipsett's many found-footage films (films made up of footage 'sampled' from other films) this short uses a fairly abstract montage of shots to comment on the isolation and alienation of the modern man (1964 modern) in a mechanised society. the individual footage itself is quite amazing and the overall effect of the montage leaves one with a definate sense of unease. apparently george lucas saw this in film school and was inspired to make THX-1138. a premium example of the new hollywood film makers of the 70's technique of adapting highly experimental avant-garde films into their own relatively conventional narrative structures (see also Blow-up into Blow-out)
